I teatrini di Piero
Who am I
My name is Piero Marcelli.
With a grandmother, Anna Bolens, who was one of the most important Italian theatre actress in the post-war period and also participated in the first experimental television broadcasts from Turin, and a mother, Anna Marcelli, actress and puppeteer in theatre and in some of the first television broadcasts for children, at the age of five I am on stage as an actor in a Beckett drama and at nine I play "Tim", a character from Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" in a radio drama.
My brain, irretrievably compromise, is passionate not only about the art of acting, but about the many sectors of the world of entertainment, allowing me to work in theatre, television, radio and cinema. I graduate from the Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica Silvio d'Amico in Rome and, not yet satisfied, I also dedicate myself to directing, mime, and teaching acting. At the height of madness I was also artistic director of the Compagnia Anna Bolens in Turin, theatre company founded by my grandmother in 1946.
But madness, you know, is contagious and so at my first direction I win the Festival Internazionale di Teatro Ragazzi in Padova, and in 2011, during the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, for one of my show I receive the compliments from the President of the Italian Republic.
Raised with bread, theatre and Muppet's Show, for twenty years, for the italian television (Rai) I am the puppeteer and the voice of the puppet "Lallo", who has now become one of my best friend.

How the "Teatrini di Piero" are born
"I Teatrini di Piero" are born out of my passion for puppets. My parents were actors and puppeteers.
As a child I spent most of my time in this magical and fascinating world.
In my first direction ("La favola del figlio cambiato", a drama by L. Pirandello), I had some characters played by puppets created for the show.
In many years I have found copies of ancient reproductions of toy theatre around the world. I reproduced them in miniature, printing them on paper and created them based on my imagination. Each little theatre is handmade and is a unique piece, enclosed in a paper box.
The curtain can be raised to discover the scenery and characters, ready to act in the world of your own fantasy.
The theatre are available in the format of about cm. 8X6X10, or twice as large.
Sometimes I have made theatre with specific themes requested by the customer.
